In the summer of 2009, Brigitte spent 14 days
in Pangnirtung, Baffin Island, living with an Inuit family.
Brigitte traveled with two of her hiking friends and neighbors,
Linda and Janie.
For two weeks they lived in the home of retired
Reverends, Abraham and Meeka Arnaqaq, whose large family they
had the pleasure of meeting. It was wonderful to experience
their way of life. These people still live mostly off the land
and the sea as their Ancestors have.
Brigitte and her friends felt lucky to see
the ice floes during the first week. Since the ice quickly melted,
they were able to travel by boat to the Cumberland Sound to
see large icebergs. Another boat trip was taken down the Pangnirtung
Fiord to the beginning of the Auyuittuq National Park.
